Welcome to the newest hall of fame! It is here and it’s time for you to nominate your favorite video game character to join the prestigious class of gamers who have been honored. Without further ado, the following group of candidates will be presented to you in alphabetical order:
* Charles Bronson (actor) – For many reasons, Charles Bronson is a perfect choice for this category. First of all, he is dead. Second of all, he had a great deal of success in the world of films, TV, and video games, especially when he starred in “The Replacements” and “Dirty Harry.” Lastly, if you have ever seen one of his films, you know that he was always leaning toward gadgets, which you can probably identify with his tweets about his love for mobile games. You can’t go wrong picking Bronson to be the next candidate for a Special Skill: Video Game Designer position if you like his eyesight, style, and general cool.
* Shawn Jones (actor/comedian) – When people think of comedians, one of the first things that come to mind is guys doing impressions of women on stage. That could be Jones, but he’s also been able to break into Hollywood as an actor, writer, and producer. If you want to be seen in the same circles as a number of comedic heavyweights, you should definitely consider putting your talents to work for a bit in the world of mobile games. As a screenwriter, Jones has written a number one bestseller, “The Biggest Loser,” so it’s safe to say that he knows what he’s doing. Plus, if you follow his comedy podcasts on iTunes, you’ll be able to keep up with his latest musings on life as a professional wrestler, belly button rings, and more.
* Brandon Johnson (Rapper) – If you’re an adrenaline junkie who also happens to love the video game industry, you’re certainly familiar with the name Brandon Johnson. The MTV host, game designer, and star of MTV’s reality series “Vegas.” If you have the chance to play some of his music, it will certainly be worth the trip.
* Shawn Michaels (actor/comedian) – Who else would be on this list if not for the man known as Shawn Michaels? Known for his work on both “Saturday Night Live” and his own specials, Michaels has managed to transform himself from a performer into a video game designer. While he continues to work regularly on both coasts, he is also well known for his starring role in “Bristle Up.”
* Pete Holmes (actor/comedian) – If being funny isn’t enough for you, maybe being filthy rich is. With his own show on The Comedy Network, Holmes has become one of the most recognizable voices in the video gaming industry. His numerous appearances on “The Simpsons” and other TV shows have also made him a true Hollywood success.
These are just a few of the many names attached to the world of gaming and video game design today. As the games become more complex and intricate, they are becoming more specialized, too. And with their increasing demand, it is only natural that their ranks are swelling with notable gamers. The Video Game Hall of Fame, however, is quite selective in selecting the inductees each year.
Being eligible for induction into the Video Game Hall of Fame can be difficult. A large majority of the games listed above (along with several others that I am unable to identify) have very popular websites or have been extremely famous among other video game enthusiasts. Because of this, it can be difficult to get in. But with a great resume, a strong game designer portfolio, and a compelling speech, you should have no problem becoming a gamer hall of fame member.
